Roman Republic, L. Calpurnius Piso Frugi, Rome, 90 BC

£60.00

A great many coins were struck under the moneyer L. Calpurnius Piso Frugi in 90 BC, at a time when Rome was engaged in the bitter fighting of the Social War.

Coins of the gens Calpurnia regularly feature a galloping horse across the reverse; a feature also seen a generation later on the denarii of C Calpurnius Piso Frugi.

An interesting coin with appealing light toning.

Near Very Fine.
