A cast bronze As of the Roman Republic. This fantastic coin was produced in 209-208 BC as the Second Punic War raged in Italy and across the Western Mediterranean.

Janus is depicted on the obverse with a mark of value above, whilst the reverse shows the bow of a galley facing right, with an anchor depicted in the right field.

This coin has an extremely satisfying feel in-hand, being of substantial size and weight (42.7g, 34mm).
