Silver antoninianus of Postumus, AD 262-263 with a beautifully clear portrait; Moneta standing left holding scales and cornucopiae on the reverse
Postumus was a Batavian commander who ruled over the splinter Gallic Empire for a decade. Generally viewed positively, he appears to have been an effective leader and a proactive administrator during a turbulent period in the empire’s history. His coinage is generally noted for its abundance and the higher than average quality for the time.
